The dam and reservoir

Completed in 1955, Malampuzha is one of Kerala’s largest irrigation dams, with a broad reservoir set against the hills of the Western Ghats. Boating is available on the water.

About 2,000 ft long and up to 60 ft above the ground, with 64 two-seater cars gliding over the gardens. It is the best way to see the whole site, and is charged separately

The Yakshi, a huge reclining figure carved by Kanayi Kunhiraman in 1969, is one of Kerala’s most famous sculptures. Nek Chand’s rock garden is built entirely from waste: broken bangles, tiles and tins.

A freshwater aquarium and a snake park (closed on Mondays), both with separate tickets. Pair the trip with Varikkasseri Mana on the way for a full day out.
